Katmai National Park offers amazing possibilities to hike, boat,
and of course... to see bears. If You're interested in volcanos and
like the mentioned combination, it is amost a must!
We spent unforgetable 8 days in the park, 5 of them in The Valley
of The Ten Thousand Smokes.

These pictures are all digitally extracted from our film
material, the really good ones (nice wide
angle and zoom-picturs) are yet to come, as soon as we find the time to scan the
negatives.

A great feature of Katmai N.P. is its Grizzly bears which can be found all
around Naknek Lake and its many creeks where Salmon are running
during this time of the year. (...more about
bears - click here)
Many times we were just amazingly close to bears and more than
once we were not sure what was more stunning: The incredible
volcanic and geological features of the park - or its bears....?
