In preparation of our volcano expeditions in Alaska we spent two
weeks of hiking, river rafting, sailing in good winds and talking to
experienced people to learn how to behave in bear country, how
to safely cross glacial rivers a.s.o.

Alaska offers amazing possibilities to do so, and amongst other
great places here are some pictures of Denali National Park where
we did some serious hiking, learned a lot about bears a.s.o.

Mt. Mc Kinley (called Denali by the natives) is the
highest Mountain in Northern America:

Hiking in Denali N.P., Alaska - is just perfedt  to get the fitness
necessary for the planned expeditions and learn how to behave in
Bear Country.  Denali (Mt. Mc Kinley) is the highest Mountain in
northern America and is mostly covered by clouds in July. We
seemed to have been really lucky to get this great view.
(22nd July 2002).

This Grizzli was following us on our first hike in Denali N.P. At least
he seemed to be pretty happy eating plantstuff.... - fortunately!   :)

29th July 2002: Sailing on Nancy lake (small lake South of Denali
N.P.  (Before sailing in the cold glacial waters we needed some
serious practice in water with nice temperature!):
